10-Year Treasury Yield
10-year Treasury yield hits fresh five-month high as IMF projects sharply stronger U.S. growth in 2024. Treasury yields continued to climb Tuesday morning as the International Monetary Fund projected a U.S. growth rate for this year that was higher than its previous forecasts.. The benchmark 10-year yield rose 3.4 basis points to 4.661% and was on pace to carve out another five-month high.
Retail Sales
Rising inflation in March didn’t deter consumers, who continued shopping at a more rapid pace than anticipated, the Commerce Department reported Monday. Retail sales increased 0.7% for the month, considerably faster than the Dow Jones consensus forecast for a 0.3% rise though below the upwardly revised 0.9% in February, according to Census Bureau data that is adjusted for seasonality but not for inflation.

Beige Book
Recent data showed the U.S. economy remains stronger than expected, leading investors to reduce their bets on future rate cuts. This was again evident in the Fed’s latest so-called “Beige Book” released on Wednesday. The report indicated U.S. economic activity expanded slightly from late February through early April and companies signaled they expect inflation pressures to hold steady.
